Some of the 2009 Carvers

REPORT from June 2009

We would like to thank all the carvers and their families for coming to Addison again this year. We hope everyone enjoyed their time in Addison, we enjoyed having you here. In spite of the almost 5 inches of rain, mostly at night, a lot of mud and a few destroyed canopies. Everything went fairly smooth. Most of the days were dry and it was dry for the Auction and we had a good crowd. Although there was no ECHO Carving Series Competition this year, we were again pleased to have ECHO as our exclusive Chainsaw Sponsor this year and would like to thank them for their generous donations of cash, saws, clothing and oil.

Wednesday Night FISH FRY !!!

Jerry France (aka Grandpa Elf) again prepared a great fish fry on Wednesday night. Don Winner filled in for Randy Everett and made the hush puppies, Scott Holiday made chicken wings. There was plenty of delicious fish, hush puppies, wings and other food dishes, desert and beverages for all.

And now for the results:

AND NOW FOR THE RESULTS: 47 Chainsaw Carvers were at the festival this year. They produced 131 Carvings for the Auction. 168 people registered for the Auction The Auction total was $29,885.00, $2,610 less than last year. Half $14,942.50 went to the carvers. The average price per carving was about $228, $43 more than last year.
The net proceeds from the Festival will be donated to the Somerset County Blind Center. We do not have that number right now. All the bills are not in. The Confluence Lions Club has donated over $73,000 to the Somerset County Blind Center from the past 5 Festivals.
This year we asked the carvers to help out Randy Everett, his wife is ill with cancer, by donating an additional carving for the Auction. Many did and many donated cash. $100 % of the Auction price for the Randy donated carvings and the cash donations came to a total of $2040. A check has been sent to Randy and we send along all the carvers and our best wishes to him and his wife.
Michael Blaine won First Place with top Auction Piece of $1700. Michael won $500, an ECHO CS310-14 Chainsaw and our new First Place Auction Trophy.
Pat Holbert was second with $1100. Pat won $300, an ECHO CS310-14 Chainsaw and our new Second Place Auction Trophy.
Luke Sassani was third with $1100 also but lost out to Pat for second in the tie breaker, Peoples Choice voting. Luke won $200, an ECHO CS310-14 Chainsaw and our new Third Place Auction Trophy.
